Fiber cut doesn't affect Oxford Networks
A break in a major fiber-optic cable near Eliot, ME interrupted Internet and e-mail Monday to scores of ISP customers across Maine. It was business as usual for Oxford Networks/Megalink customers; we were unaffected.
The Oxford Networks NAP (Network Access Point) in Portland, ME has much to do with our uptime. Since Oxford implemented the NAP, with full redundancy and resiliency, our network was able to weather the outage. Our plans for the network are not complete. In 2002, Oxford Networks will continue to invest in network, web hosting, web design, streaming media, Dial-up, and DSL. While other ISPs continue to close doors Oxford Networks will open them and get Maine closer to the Internet than ever before.
