Lightning Reminder for Oxford Networks/Megalink users

Oxford Networks/Megalink would like to remind you that thunderstorm season is upon us. Please remember to unplug those modems from the phone lines during storms. This reminder especially applies to all our DSL users.

Last year hundreds of users lost their modems to power surge brought on by lightning. Some customers have put their faith in surge supressors that come accompanied with a telephone jack. While these devices may work for some lower powered surges, they do not work in all cases. Also, these devices cause DSL to malfunction and may actually decrease your dialup modems speeds and cause disconnects! Your best plan of attack is to unplug your modem entirely.
