Megalink Network Update
Megalink is aware that some users have been experiencing slow downloads and busy signals at peak times. Megalink strives to maintain one of the best modem-to-user ratios in the state. We order new circuits weekly, but in the end, we are beholden to Verizon in most areas for delivery of those circuits. We currently have more lines on order and awaiting delivery.
Our peak times have been Sunday - Wednesday from 7:00PM - 8:30PM. In some instances, such as 3/6/01 (storm day), we experienced severe call volume most of the day. Should you receive a busy signal at any other time of the day, please call or e-mail our support desk with the date and time. The Megalink Acceptable Use Policy also specifies that users should not stay connected unless actively using that connection. Dialing up and walking away from your computer for extended periods ties up modems that others could actively use.
We have also heard from some of you that download speeds during peak times have been an issue. Megalink is in the process of upgrading most of our facilities with more bandwidth and faster hardware! We started planning this project some months ago and it's nearing implementation. Keep checking our website for news on this progress as well as our plans to bring higher speeds to the Oxford Hills area in August of 2001.
